Reporting Periods
The Reporting Cycle
A Reporting Period is defined by
the CAIRO administrator and is typically a half-term. It is simply a
time-window during which teachers may enter and edit their reports. The
CAIRO administrator may lock particular types of report at any stage,
but typically does so when a reporting period has expired. A report
cycle might go thus:
- A New Reporting Period..
- ..is defined by the CAIRO administrator and named, for example: "December 2007 Grades".
- ..runs from start-date to end-date.
- Data Input is performed..
- ..by teachers via PC's connected to the school network.
- ..by teachers using the "Work-At-Home". facility
- Data is checked:
- Corrections and edits are performed.
- The Reporting Period is locked (rendered read-only).
- The Reports are printed:
- Up to one school year may be printed at a time.
- Output is in tutor-group and ascending surname order.
- The printed reports are distributed to the tutors for subsequent handing to students.
- Usually, no collation is required.
